Cruising Along

Wide Open Spaces - More Love

When I think of all the many memories I've had with Uncle Dale, one stands out clearly in my mind. I remember it would be Uncle Dale, little Dale, & I riding in his truck. We would either always be riding to a job he had to do, or out cruising about to the many places he would take us. We didn't care because he always made it fun & worthwhile. One day we went out riding, us three. We would always listen to music. One CD that would be a popular choice, was the Dixie Chicks or the occasional Toby Keith. This time he chose to put in the Dixie Chicks. I remember him asking me & little Dale if we knew what was being said in the song. Of course little Dale & I just liked it for the sound. There he went, explaining to us as if he were re-creating the story of the song, word by word. Ever since then when I heard a song I liked, I was able to identify the meaning rather than hearing it from just the musical standpoint. Uncle Dale did everything he could & more for us kids. Even if it was just staying home listening to his guitar, going out on the snowmobile & sleds, riding the waves on the boat on a warm sunny day, water gun fights, removing impossibly deep splinters, & camping to name a few. No matter what, he made sure we always had a smile on our faces. I will miss him so much. He was a loving Uncle & I am glad I am able to cherish all the memories he gave to me. I love you!

My name is Jim Cherry, being around Dale was different you could be down Dale could pick ya up, he had that ability we played basketball in Shuman lot, thumbed it to Oak Wood beach to swim in the Delaware River or find a way to get to Alloway Lake we always found a way to have fun. In winter we got out the ice skates and found place to skate sometime Woodstown Lake other times it could have been the ditch along Grieves prky it was wider and cleaner back then, hell one time Dale pulled something out of his back pocket I thought it was a comb it turned to be a hawk bill knife I found out when my hand started to bleeding. He showed everyone's parents respect ALWAYS ! One nite we went to Quinton to see a couple of girls we left the same time to head home we got to Quinton Bridge to thumb it home everytime a car would come I put my thumb out Dale started doing the Tea Berry shuffle yea we walk all the way home.    OH WELL, I'LL MISS YA PAL
