As you would've loved for us to do on any other day, we must do the same for your birthday and celebrate instead of mourn. Instead of us giving you gifts and presents, we reminisce over the gifts you've provided for us -- your words of wisdom, comforting advice for when we needed guidance, or your loving support. I pray that although you're no longer with us that we may continue to seek your help in our times of need. We may miss you, but we will never forget the legacy you left behind.
Happy Birthday Grandma! May you enjoy the plans God has set for you."
Everyday we honor you and your life. The Lord saw it was fit to bring you back home and for that reason we should not mourn but celebrate your time here. You taught me to have compassion and showed real strength in your words and also at times in silence. I hope and pray to acquire your wisdom and understanding as I navigate the challenges of life. Forever in our hearts, rest in perfect peace."
Yesterday was the Women's March on Washington in Washington, DC. I was there with a large group of people and I thought of you and really missed you. I saw a lot of grandmothers out there, walking and laughing, chanting and smiling and they reminded me so much of you.
I know that you would have enjoyed the sight of hundreds of thousands of women coming together to show their solidarity with each other in times of strife. You were always such a pillar of strength and I'm thankful that as I grow older I am learning to take on some of that strength as well. You are missed but I know you are at peace. Love you Grandma"
"Today, we would have been talking and wishing you happy birthday. I missed the joy in your tone when you hear my voice, the mirth in your laugh and the word of wisdom. But l take solace in the laugh of Roke that sounds like yours, the back of Nnamdi that he took from you and the principles that is guiding us daily. You would have enjoyed the women's march. You will forever leave through each and every one of your children, grandchildren and me who was privileged to have known you. Happy birthday Mama. Love you."
This past Christmas and New Year were really hard not having you around to share the mirthful laughter with which you often shouted your greetings, easily betraying your profound joy those celebrations brought to you as a true believing Christian. But your birthday today will probably be harder- a day in which you often relished as many of us sing the usual happy birthday song to you and your usual response " I'm 16". What a great joy you insisted upon in spite of all the nagging nabobs that also attended your great joy.
For sure we know that where you are with your Jesus is all Joy and forever. Many here on earth miss you with great thanks to God Almighty who chose and lives in you though you are not here. Thanks also to Ogbo'm Uche ( Dr. Rex Opusunju) who has given us this medium to remember. Thank you Lord....Amen
"Nnenne'm - Happy birthday! It's the first since you've been gone, grateful to God that you celebrated 94 years on earth, heaven's party is unending for you.
I love you Ada Jesus!"
"Aunty Ijeoma was always fun to be around. She was kind and welcoming with a sharp sense of humor. She will be greatly missed!"
"I've heard from an uncountable sons and daughters who affirm that you were very close to their mothers. I have even heard from Efem ObasI in Los Angeles California who wanted it published that you were instrumental to her mother's conversion to the Christian faith , hitherto a practising mosley. The Prelate ( The head Clergy ) of the Church and family you totally espoused set the date of your remains would be laid to rset and of course is cofirmed his attendance. Nearly 70 Knights of John Wesley are threatening to ensure they too must be in attendance. Because of this I have asked my family and my friends to come help me host the Church , in your honor, exactly the way I know you would have liked to emphasize.. Im sorry im having to leave out soany tributes and prayets that poured in . But it simply gladdens my heart tjat you touched that many lived positively. ADA JESUS! IT IS WELL. JA JUA....Amen"
"Prayers for your continued peace and blessings in your time of loss Dr. Rex. No words suffice when you lose a parent who has richly blessed your life."
"You lived out Christianity, your life was truly the epistle I read. You loved God and put Him above all else, I remember you always rounding up most of our conversations with " Oge m, I love you more than you love me", you didn't say that as though it was a competition, you affirmed your love for me.
I love you Grannie and miss you very much, you must be having a ball up in heaven!"
"Mmom, the news of your translation brought sadness to my heart.
I will miss your motherly unbiased advice and the times we shared reflecting on God's Word and His goodness.
Your memory will forever live in my thoughts.
Continue Resting in Paradise Mama Ukwu!"
