His Life
September 21, 2015

Mr. Lillis was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 8, 1947, the son of the late Anna Reviello Lillis and John Francis Lillis. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bloomsburg University, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Scranton. His education afforded him the opportunity to work in the human resources field with the Rite Aid Corporation until his retirement. His love for work and serving others challenged him to begin a second career with the Three Rivers Regional Commission where he served first in the Human Resources Department, and was later promoted to Director of the Work Force Development Division. The tremendous assistance he gave to his clients was life changing to all those he served. He was most at home while diving in the ocean, and was a dive instructor for many years. He also loved hiking in the wilderness surrounded by forest and animal life. His love for nature prompted him to have a garden even when he was living in the city. He felt his greatest accomplishment in life was being the father to his beloved daughter, Karen. Their home was always a gathering place for all of her friends, due to the love and generosity shown to them by Mr. Dan. Because of his wonderful personality, great sense of humor, and caring spirit he was dubbed by his own daughter, and all of the adopted ones, “The World’s Greatest Father.” His devotion to his partner, Mona, daughter, Karen, his entire family, and all of his friends will forever endear him to their hearts.

He is survived by loving partner, Mona Browning of Franklin, GA.; daughter, Karen Lillis and her partner Hannah Giles of Port Charlotte, FL.; sister, Eda Carrotto (Rusty) of Taylor, PA.; brother Joseph Lillis (Chris) of Gibson, PA.; a number of nieces and nephews and other loved ones; and his adored canine children, Abbey, Casey, Molly, and Buddy.
