Darwin got an award on November 11 ,1993. He got a plaque for it. The plaque pays tribute to Darwin for being chosen Veteran of the Year by the aera's Veterans Council. Darwin, a Korean veteran who served from 1950 to 1952, was a chaplin for post 2496 of the VFW , the American Legion, and also the Veterans Councial.
