His Life

My Beautiful Boy

July 3, 2013
2-01 One Sweet Day
The Name David means ‘beloved’ which was a perfect fit for my son! He was a true gift from God. John Lennon wrote a song to honor his son Sean called "Beautiful Boy." Similarly, I call my son David, or "Bubba" to his family, my “beautiful boy” because he was beautiful inside and out. As a mother, I could not have been prouder. As a baby, David was good-natured, intelligent, and a fast learner, achieving all his milestones early. He had six teeth by the time he was six months old and was walking by eight months old. He decided he had places to go and made sure to get there!

David was a creative individual who enjoyed making silly videos with his friends as a boy. His interests included collecting comic books, action figures, and movies and playing video games, which he continued to enjoy, even as an adult. David had an adventurous spirit and was always willing to try new things. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and anything else that went fast. He had recently developed an interest in traveling and exploring tropical beach destinations.

David had a profound sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes on family and close friends, and you could always count on him to make you laugh. He had a kind and generous heart, always giving without expecting anything in return. He was a loyal friend and family member who made it a point to attend every birthday party and special occasion. He always put a lot of thought into choosing the perfect gift for his loved ones.

David was an exceptional person who accomplished remarkable things in his life. He was responsible, independent, and determined, always striving for excellence in every aspect of his life. Words could never express how extraordinary he was. David was the best son, big brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, godparent, and friend to all who knew and loved him.

"I believe in the saying 'Only the good die young', and sadly, this was true for David. He will always be remembered as thirty-one years old, and although his life was short, we are grateful for the time we spent with him. I will never forget the day he passed away, it rained, and the rain continued for the entire week. It felt like even the heavens were mourning his loss. David's departure was sudden, and we feel a permanent void in our hearts and lives that can never be filled. However, we take comfort in the belief that when we reach heaven's gate, one by one, he will be waiting for us with his beautiful smile and arms wide open. We'll meet again, 'One Sweet Day', in a place where there's no more pain, sorrow, or separation.
