His Life
January 8, 2014

David E. Kauffman, 70, passed away at his home in Scottsdale, AZ on December 16, 2013.  Born on April 11, 1943 to Ira and Mildred Kauffman, he grew up with his sister Linda in Mountville, PA.  David attended Hempfield High School, class of 1961, and worked summers at Kauffman Brothers Garage.  He graduated from Lycoming College in 1965 with a BA in Economics, and married fellow graduate Jo-Anne Kirby shortly after graduation.  Their daughter Laura was born in 1968, and they spent six and 1/2  years living in graduate student housing at Penn State, where David received his PhD in Social Psychology in 1972. Divorced in 1973, David lived in Dallas, TX and was a Sociology Professor at Southern Methodist University, before changing career paths and becoming a stockbroker at E.F. Hutton.  He continued his career as a Financial Planner at LPL Financial Services in Edmonds, WA , and his many clients remember him as a wise, witty man of exceptional integrity.  He spent the last decade of his life, which he described as his happiest, in Scottsdale, AZ with his great love Norma Jean “Jeannie” Van Epps.  After retirement he focused on his favorite pastimes, cooking, hiking, and travel.  His companionship, stories and wonderful meals will be greatly missed by Jeannie, his daughter Laura and son-in-law Paco Rollins, and his beloved grandson Jaxon David Rollins. Contributions in David’s memory can be made to the Lycoming College Scholarship fund.
