David Eugene Rooks, 74, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center.
A native of Columbus County, the son of the late John and Thelma Jackson Rooks. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Butner and retired with thirty- seven years as a Master Sergeant with the North Carolina National Guard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Butner by Pastor Charlie Bryan and Rev. Lenny Rogers. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years , Dolly Pierce Rooks of the home, a daughter, Pamela Rooks DeZurik of Wake Forest , a son, Timothy Eugene Rooks of Hickory , two sisters, Frances R. Bengel of Nashville, Louise R. Gay of Rocky Mount, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Rooks and Bobby Rooks.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Butner, P.O. Box 44, Butner, NC 27509.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 4th 2015 from 1:30-3:00 PM in the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church in Butner and at other times at the home.
