David Olin Markwell was born on October 10, 1942 in Kankakee, Illinois.  He always said that he interruped his brother Don's 10th birthday party, who was born Oct 20, 1942.  David grew up in Wilimington, Illinois. After graduation from college he joined the Navy.  After service in Virginia Beach and San Diego, he was sent to Viet Nam to serve his last year.  He was a payroll clerk, who lived and worked in downtown Saigon.  The funniest story he told about his Navy career, was that he was never on a ship.  Upon returning from Viet Nam, his father had remarried and moved to Marion, Indiana.  (Dave's mother died while he was in the Navy.)  He met and married Connie Buck and they were married until his death, living most of their years in Anderson.  Dave & Connie had two children, Amy Jo and Aaron Jay Markwell.  His grandson, Corbin Olin Smith was born shortly before his death.  Dave was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in April 1991, the same day that Amy learned she was pregnant.  While Dr's told him he had approximately 6 months, he vowed to meet his grandchild, which he did.  We miss him everyday.  We will never forget the wonderful years we shared with him.
