I recently wanted to look up my high school dear friend Deb Canino. Deb, Anne Hiller and I were 3 very good friends throughout high school. We were the outsiders, not the cheerleaders and for a few years did everything together. I just learned of Deb's death in trying to reconnect with her. I am heartbroken. Deb was always cheerful, always positive and a light in the darkness. I was her bridesmaid a hundred years ago. I am so sorry to hear about her death. She was a very special person and I haven't has such a good friend in the 40 years since I knew her. I will miss her forever.

Deb, It just doesn't seem like it's been a year already. Still miss your sweet smile and caring heart. The world lost a beautiful person when you left us but I know you are among God's angels now and will be eternally at peace. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Love you & will miss you always. Aunt Paula

Truly Debbie and Ted are lights in my life. Never a harsh word or even an impatient moment, with all they were dealing with. I love them both and will always miss the chemistry that they create. Loving people with so much positive energy. Now one is gone and I miss her like my own sister. I wish only the very best for Ted, as he finds his new path.

Dear Ted and Family, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. It feels as Debbie was much too young; too good to be gone. Working with her at the LUEP Department at Stanford was always a pleasure. I appreciated the care and attention that she brought to everything she did. She will be missed. Therese Brekke

Dear Ted and Debbie's family, though I've been away for too-long a period from my close Stanford colleagues, I've not been out-of-thought with all we accomplished together in terms of caring for the natural environment for future generations of students, faculty, staff and local community. Debbie was a leader in helping us foster our campus, including saving numerous aged oaks and planting many new ones in reminding us of our campus and regional heritage.
However, even more importantly, she was there daily in our office to remind all of us of how we should respect our interactions with one another with dignity and caring.
May her presence continue to effect us all,
David

Deb,
There is a space missing from my heart that you will carry forever my friend. From you I have learned about strength that I shall never possess, an understanding that stepping back may achieve a more restful perspective and that a quiet force is withstanding. As I mentioned to you not long ago, I will do everything I can to help continue with your vision to save the trees of Stanford and help them to flourish in their new locations to best of my ability. The tree legacy that you were so passionately diligent to care for, from beginning to end, is just a mere reflection of your love and compassion. It surrounds me daily. I miss you.

May thanks to Debbie-- I called her the tree lady and she called me the bike lady. Now, every time I see a tree I think of her. She helped me save a neighborhood tree they wanted to cut down by telling me how much carbon would be released if they did it! A very special person who loved her work. Debbie, I miss your smile and sharing dog stories with you.

Little Deb

July 4, 2016

Can still picture Deborah laughing and just enjoying herself on the swing in her backyard on Westcott St.  She was with her brother Clemmy, cousins Donna & little Lou, and her great Uncle Pio who was visiting.  Ah, to experience that childhood innocence again.  You were a Little angel who will always have that special place in our hearts.  Will love you always Deb, as well as your sweet husband & soulmate Ted.

Baby Deborah

February 18, 2014
I Remember when Deborah was first born. She was the cutest baby ever who had the bright eyes and chubby little rosy cheeks. The only description I can think of is....a little apple face. My oldest brother once took a picture of her that I really loved. Deb was in her playpen, smiling as usual at her Uncle Pio as he took the snapshot and a ray of sun was shining down on her. I look back now and think how God was wrapping his arms around her and how she truly was one of his little angels who was sent here on a mission or many missions before she went to her forever home. I hope to share some pictures of her younger years when I can find time to retrieve them. I miss you so much Deb. You were a fighter right to the end and truly an inspiration to many. I love you and hope I will be blessed to see your smiling face again some day in heaven. Aunt Paula
