Hi Ma,

12 years ago we both saw history with the first black President of the United States. Now I get to see history with the first black (and woman) Vice President of the United States. We are still going to do things to make you proud (myself included). Right now I can be heard on 4 different radio shows each week, and I had a run of 6 straight weeks with at least 1 guest mix played on an overseas radio station. I still think about some of the crazy conversations we had. I think that's another reason that my shows are so much fun! Tell everyone in Heaven that I said hello and that I'm holding it down around here.

xo,

Hi Mom. Oh, I miss you so. I think about you every single day. Some days it would be for a fleeting moment, or when I bring p something that you would say. Other days it could be for minutes on end, just soaking in the essence of you and what you meant to me. I am so glad that we had a spiritual grounding. We were taught that "spirit was never born and that spirit will never die". It is that teaching that enables me to carry on and live my life the way you said that I should. Today I will do some things for myself. I have a civic duty to "early vote" for the next mayor. Then I will do some more reading assignments for school - I need to get my focus back on trying to stay ahead of the schedule since I have it in front of me (just like the Sbarbaro days). Then I will work on my scholarship applications for school. I know you are laughing at me 'cause I'm still in school - just like you told your friends I would be doing. Then I will have dinner with your sister and your nephew. Dinner will have a 'different' flavor this time around (oh my pun...oops!), and I know that they miss you, too. But, given the losses we had over the last few years, one thing that is also a belief for us is that we will be reunited. And when that happens there will be a joy that will never be taken away! I love you Mom...and I will see you soo!

Hi Mom. So today would be your 72nd anniversary. I would have thought to make the honey-glazed carrots, French Cut green beans and Italian meatball with the Italian salad dressing (that was odd, but yummy!). But since I am subbing for the guy before me tonight I will do a big party at the radio station. Besides, that is what you want me to do - I'm working my way up! :D

Ma,

I will simply honor your life by continuing on with mine. Over the years you bragged about me – sometimes to the point of embarrassment (ha ha), but now I will brag on you for a while. I will do my best to continue to make you proud! Sleep well, and please save me a seat in Heaven…

Special Birthday

February 24, 2022
Dear Mom,

Happy Birthday!

This time around,  I can't do any of those honey-glazed carrots. And I can't do the tribute mix for the radio shows because my laptop is getting repaired. But this will still be a special birthday celebration, and you will get a kick out of this one. In 2019 I spent my birthday in Rome. in 2022 I will be spending YOURS in Rome...

Friday Night

February 24, 2017

One favorite pastime on Friday nights was to sit with Mom and watch Miami Vice.  Mom has her celebrity crush on Philip Michael Thomas who played Tubbs.  I also got back into House Music and started listening to the Friday Night Network Connection and Friday Night Audio on WKKC. That tradition still goes strong today – 25+ years later.

MEPCOM Fashion Show – 2013

January 28, 2015

I told Mom that MEPCOM was going to have a fashion show as a part of the 1st Annual Diversity Day.  The diversity committee needed people to be models…naturally I volunteered.  Was Mom surprised?  Of course not! I modelled a few times before so it was an easy decision to make.  I knew that I could do some wardrobe changes and build a sequence.  Mom and I collaborated on what I should wear first and then what to wear with each wardrobe change.

Purple FILA jumpsuit with the white high-top FILA sneakers. Black/gold dashiki with black/gold trimmed kufi.  Black slacks, burgundy Stacy Adams shoes.  Elephant necklace.  White Trust short-sleeved shirt.  White Steve Harvey slacks, black/white Stacy Adams ‘spectator’ shoes.  “Strangely colored” silver sport coat. :D Sky-blue ‘zoot suit’ with white short containing sparkling blue buttons.  Air Force (as in USAF) pocket watch.  Blue/white Stacy Adams wingtip shoes.

On the day of the show I was the only male model, and I was also the only person with wardrobe changes.  In the end I had a great time and I made an impression on the audience.  Was Mom surprised at the result?  Of course not!

I had a good blueprint…

:D
