Mr. Nelms was born in Franklin, Georgia on March 24, 1948, the son of the late Naomi Gibson Nelms and Zed Nelms. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia. He was a hard worker who enjoyed all aspects of his job. He held several post at Kaydon Filtration before his retirement. Gospel music was a favorite of his, especially the Gaither Vocal Band. He was a quiet man who loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by two sisters, Durell and Phyllis Nelms Marshall of LaGrange, GA., and Judy Bishop of AL.; devoted sister-in-law, Jeanette Cavender of LaGrange, GA.; and a number of adoring nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ann Nelms Cavender, and Lynn Gail Nelms Smith.
