His Life
October 29, 2013

Dennis Gittens, a.k.a. Pablo, a brother, brother in-law, uncle, friend and son, was born in Woodbrook, P.O.S Trinidad. He attended Hillview College; an all-boys, Presbyterian secondary school in Tunapuna, Trinidad. He was well known for his love of Trinidadian culture, carnival and steel pan, especially the Invaders and Starlift panyards. He was a bright man who knew the importance of a close-knit family. He attended all family weddings and major events, and ensured that family members had copies of pictures taken at these events. In his own way, he shared words of wisdom to those who would listen. He lived about 45 years of his life in Brooklyn, New York and was well known in his East 31st. Street neighborhood. He worked at a variety of jobs including the United Nations until he retired. Most of all, Dennis (Pablo) will be remembered for his enthusiastic bottle and spoon accompaniment to any calypso tune.
