Curly haird clown

December 31, 2010

Deven was 2 when I met her. I never thought that babysitting  would lead to me bonding with this little curly haird clown. Who am I kidding...my entire family bonded with her & Victoria.....they became family....so much so that they ended up living with me. I was fortunate enough to watch Deven grow up in the earlier part of her childhood. Deven was like a little sister in ways and like a daughter to me in others. She would always find a way to get me to let her do whatever it was her mom wouldn't let her do....sneak ice cream...watch movies all morning...wear whatever she wanted to pre-school after Victoria laid out her clothes for the day. When my daughter Brianna was born Deven became her hero. After Victoria & Deven moved out of Oxnard I thought that would be the end of the bond we had.....NOPE....somehow whenever I planned to do something with Deven & Brianna it didn't turn out to be that simple. I took the girls for a weekend trip to the LA Zoo. Before we even got unpacked in our hotel my dad, Victoria & my brother show up saying they are staying in the room next to us just because we didn't invite them.  Thats the way it always was....you always wanted to be around Deven. I'm sorry to say that a few years after that I lost touch with Victoria & Deven. Years went by and no contact. This past year I was able get in contact with Victoria. Soon after that Facebook brought me to finding Deven. I was able to get a small glimpse at what a beautiful young woman Deven had become. The little curly haired clown that I knew had grown into this amazing person. My thoughts and prayers go out to Deven's entire family as well as each and everyone she touched.

The late, but GREAT, Deven Renee Garcia passed away on December 16, 2010, @ 12:09am on her way to visit her grandparents in North Hills, CA, as the unforgiving recipient of a deadly car accident. During her high school career she attended Shadow Ridge H.S. as a freshmen and moved to Durango High School where she was a profound art student. Deven was known by her peers for her unique artistic ability, taste and appreciation. Deven is survived by her younger generation sisters Kalena Garcia, 8 yrs old, of Las Vegas, NV,  Krystal Zumpano, 6 yrs old, of Rialto, CA, her mother Victoria Benavides of Rialto, CA, and her father Christian Garcia of Las Vegas, NV. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family and on special account of her cousins Ashleigh Dews and Dakota Garcia, and her dearest friend Mike Vasquez. Please send your prayers and condolences out to the families of the victim. Thank you and be blessed.......  R.I.P. MY Angel Deven Renee Garcia 09/20/93 - 12/16/10       Ashleigh Dews
