April 12, 2015
I am so saddened that my Uncle Dick has passed. He was big part of my life in my adolescent years. I knew him as my Cool bachelor Uncle. I have fond memories of our family Sunday dinners, him introducing us to PONG on our TV, sailing in Alameda and his gift of Inrcedible Edibles one Christmas. It was the best gift and one that Santa would never have brought. LOL   . When I look back, what I recall most back is that he always had a way of making me feel important and absorb anything I had to say in conversation with him. He looked at me and listened to what I had to say as though it truly mattered. He always made me feel special, even as a little girl.... I love him for that!!

Love you and Miss  you Uncle Dick- xoxo

I have many fond memories of Uncle Dick.  Playing ping- pong, lucky bid, and learning to dance the hustle!  I will always remember his patience and sense of humor.  He made algebra fun for me which I never thought would be possible.  Sunday dinners were always a treat because I knew I would I would see him.  He was always willing to listen to me play the guitar and sing no matter how bad I thought I was he told me I was good.  There were also many good times on his sailboat.  I miss you Uncle Dick.

Blue Screen..

April 9, 2015

When you are standing there in front of whole hospital ultrasound department and the Windows Blue Screen of Death appears....and your mind goes blank...Who are you going to call?  For the last 24 years Dick Winslow has been bailing me out with patient, concise, logical suggestions and instruction for the many functional dilemmas these complicated systems are heir to.

When I was with Rohe Scientific, I remember talking to Dick when he was with Schiff Camera's tech support department.  I was delighted to find him at Toshiba when I started there in 1991.

I think it was Illinois Imager that stuck this note in with all new cameras in the set-up instructions:
BEFORE YOU TRY IT YOUR WAY,

TRY IT OUR WAY...
Dick got a kick out of that.

Dick was the heart and soul of Toshiba Ultrasound Service.   I'll miss him every day.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear about my Uncle Dick.  Unfortunatly I didn't see him much later in life due to living in another state, but in earlier times, when I would travel to California to stay with cousins, he was always there ready to take us sailing, (he was a great sailor!), out to McDonald's for a fish sandwich or have us over to his apartment clubhouse for several games of ping pong.  I also remember the time he came to Salt Lake City to visit and he was driving a brand new 1967 Chevy Camero convertable!  He spent most the day giving us kids rides around the city.  We couldn't have been more excited!

My deepest sympathy to Aunt Suni, Martin and Caryn.  My prayers and thoughts are with you at this very very sad time!!

Rest in Peace, Uncle Dick.  I'll love and miss you always!

You don't wanna be

April 8, 2015

I first met Dick in Tennessee at a Holiday Inn when he was teaching a class on Schiff Imagers. Several years later he was hired by Toshiba which proved to be  great for the company.
Dick instructed me in many UL classes over the years, helped me out of many jams in the field and never once razzed me for asking questions I should have known.

He earned my respect in many different ways.  One of these was his humor.  Always quick with an underlying comment that would sometimes send me into a fit of laughter.

In one class he had just offered a bit of information I did not know and I stood up and commented " Dick, someday when I grow up I want to be just like you."  (its kind of how we rolled).  He retorts back "No you don't."  This kinda caught me off guard a little and I am sure my facial expression said ????.
He comments "You don't want to be a dick."

There were many good times and these I will remember forever.

A great friend, professional, funny, kind, humble (the list goes on)

We had so much fun together. From enjoying our time together with friends on the Niguel Shores Bluff to singing Karaoke at our house or yours. To our last time together at your house watching The Academy Awards.  We will always treasure our fond memories of Dick. He was so kind, caring and just an all around good guy and a great gentleman.
Our deepest thoughts and condolances to you Sunny, Martin, and Caryn

Dick will be missed by all of us!

Hugs, Roger and Julie
