|"I saw light, like the sunrise, when I got to the border but I felt nervous until today -- when I get complete freedom." Dith Pran in a 1991 Los Angeles Times interview|
This memorial website was created in the memory of a very hard-working man, Dith Pran, 65, born on September 27, 1942 and passed away on March 30, 2008. We will remember him forever. He never gave up and worked his hardest all throughout his life. He survived the Cambodian Genocide by traveling 40 miles to Thailand. He was an amazing photographer and tried his best to share the news of Cambodia to the world and other news once he reached American and worked for the New York Times. He created the Dith Pran Holocaust Awareness Project which educated people on the history of the Khmer Rouge regime (for more information visit dithpran.org) and was also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Dith Pran was an outstanding person who deserved to live a longer life, but with the time he did have did and survived amazing things.
