The Killing Fields

Dith Pran, a native Cambodian and refugee who lived in the United States, was and is an inspiration to millions of people. His story was highlighted in the Oscar- winning film The Killing Fields, which brought to life the world of Cambodia under the rule of the communist Khmer Rouge. In the film, Pran, played by the late Hiang S. Ngor, worked as an interpreter and reporter alongside American Sydney Schanberg. After getting his family out of the country, Pran was forced to survive in a world where intelligence meant death. He had to use his cunning and creativity wisely to ensure his survival and escape the country, helping others along the way.  Pran helped bring to light an oft forgotten aspect of history while inspiring millions with his breathtaking courage.
