Dolfus Rice Barksdale, 82, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home.

A native of Halifax County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Willie Amos and Katie Hancock Barksdale. Dolfus was of the Baptist Faith and retired from the City of Durham and Waste Management.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Smith of Franklinton and Barbara Barksdale of Creedmoor; granddaughters, Tamela Brewer, Mandy Smith; grandsons, Donald Smith, Jr., Kimball Curtis Thaxton and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Addie Rudd, Barbara Jean Barksdale and three brothers, Marshall Barksdale, Jr., Clyde Barksdale and Eddie Barksdale.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, November 21, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.
