Don A. Ricketson, 77, of Oxford died on June 29, 2019 after several years of declining health.  He was born in New London, CT.  Don was the son of a career Army Officer and as a youngster he lived on numerous military posts in the U.S. and overseas. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1963 and he entered military service in the Army after completing college.  Don served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired from military service at the rank of Major.  Decorations and Medals received were: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Unit Citation, and Valorous Unit Citation.  While in Vietnam, Don was a Command and Control Officer with the Air Calvary.

Don was pre-deceased by his wife, Laura Taylor Ricketson, in 2015 after 31 years of marriage.  He is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Meg Taylor of Raleigh.
Don and Laura were owners of Decorator Fabric on Linden Avenue in Oxford for 25 years until they retired in 2009.
Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 140 College St., Oxford, NC 27565, or The Salvation Army, 355 Alexander Ave. Henderson, NC  27536.
