Last year Jeanette and Don came for a visit and we had such a wonderful time seeing the sites around beautiful Salem, Or.  What fun and I will never forget this special visit.

Raining in Costa Rica!

July 8, 2012

This picture was taken on Sabbath by the church that Markham Woods Church short term missionaries built in Costa Rica. It was pouring down rain and no one had a key to get into the church were we were to have a group picture taken. It was one of our many adventures that week. Don is in the yellow rain coat and light colored slacks, near the corner of the building. As always he had a big smile on his face.
A special memory of mine with Don!

The Great Neighbor

July 8, 2012

There was one thing I could count on if I saw my neighbor Don Wildman... He would make me feel warm inside. He would smile at me, and always had a kind word. My son thought of him as another grandparent.

I remember him helping out at my husband's surprise party. We laughed at his and Jeannette's surprise anniversary party that "turnabout's fair play."

Our family feels "adopted" by the Wildmans as they opened their door for us at any time, day or night.

One night when my husband was traveling, I heard a loud noise outside. It was really late and I called all of the "younger" neighbors first, as I didn't want to bother him. None were home or available. I hesitantly called. Bright and cheery Don came to my rescue and investigated what we later discovered was someone shooting fireworks. He didn't mind. He called me afterward and comforted the emotional new mommy.

I'll remember his smile always. May I bring a fraction of joy to those around me as he did.
