Donald Ray Williams, 72, a longtime resident of Durham County passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at VA Medical Center in Durham.
A native of Mitchell County, the son of the late Howard Williams, Sr. and Naomi Murdock Williams. He was of the Baptist Faith, retired from the US Army, served in Vietnam, and was a welder by trade.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel by Rev. Wilbur Horton. Burial will be in Lily Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Snow Creek Rd, Bakersville, N.C.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Williams Elliott of Bullock, four sons; Bobby Ray Williams of Bullock, Donnie Ray Roop of Quarryville, PA, Steven Ray Williams of Missouri and Bryan Ray Williams of Henderson, a sister, Patricia Bullock of Butner, three brothers; H.L. Williams of Durham, Johnny Williams of Tennessee, Dannie Joe Williams of Texas, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a special friend, Nicole Keeton Howell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Roger Williams of Mt. Airy.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, October 24, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times the home of Bobby Williams.
"Donald, how well I remember two years ago today. You went to be with Jesus and I didn't have any idea that when you went down for a heart cath at 4 pm that you would leave us at 1:45 am.!! But God knew best and He needed you with Him. I love and miss you so much. I miss your calls and your laughter. You were so much fun to be with and I miss that.
