Dorothy,

It is hard to believe that it has already been two years. I have missed all the jokes, stories, and cartoons you shared.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I think about you every day and miss you very much. Happy Birthday.

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.

Dotti,

It is hard to believe that it has been seven months since you left us. I have missed my almost daily emails of jokes and stories from you. I am sure we will share them again in the future.

I can't remember how long I have known Dotti but it seems like forever. She was my home interiors go to person. Especially at Christmas time I see all of the home interiors that I purchased from her. She was a great person - caring, funny and lots of fun to be with. I will miss her! Thoughts and prayers go out to George, Doreen and Ashley. I know this is a difficult time.

I do not remember exactly when I met Dotti, but it was close to thirty years ago at Ethel's Ceramic Shop. Over the years we did a lot of activities together. We always had a lot of fun and laughs. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and most of all a wonderful friend to many. I will miss the fun times, but will always be great full that she was my friend.

I worked with Dottie for many years in the Records section of the Alexandria Police Department. I could always rely on her to help me solve any "problems" that came up there. She was always a smiling, happy co-worker. God bless her and her family, she is in a better place. Thanks you Doreen

I will always remember Dorothy as one of the group we referred to as "The Share Girls". That is how I came to meet Dorothy- during the time she managed the SHARE program. A woman of many talents and always involved in so many things. She will be missed greatly by me and so many people's lives that she touched.  My prayers are with you George, Doreen and Ashley.

Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it. ~ Proverbs 22:6

Doreen, you are the best tribute to your mother. You are a kind, caring, awesome person. A large part of that is because of the awesome mother you had. God bless.

Dorothy, I remember when you transferred from Social services to APD. We laughed about the conversation we had about working conditions when you first started and the letter you wrote to yourself. A short time later, you became a believer in the APD. I really miss you.

I was glad to rekindle our friendship through Facebook this past year after I retired. I had not seen Dotti since she retired. Our families were neighbors in Alexandria and she was a coworker at APD when I started working there. My deepest sympathy to George, Doreen, and her granddaughter. She truly loved her family and her community. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dottie was a very gracious lady and always ready to help. We so enjoyed the years she was active with the Spotsylvania County Woman's Club. The club was very fortunate to have her as a member and the friendship she shared with all of us. May God bless her family in the difficult time ahead. Let us know if we can help with anything.

What a Wonderful Tribute to a Wonderful Woman.
You were one of the best Auxilaries that the Alexandria Police Dept. ever had.
As Tony said, you were like a "Den Mother" to all of A Squad, and was always there in a time of need. I didn't get a chance to come see you when Tony and the others came, but my thoughts and prayers were always with you.

I will always remember Dorothy as "Dot". I met her when I was 18 and I am 51 now. We've e-mailed recently. She was always helpful and friendly and I always hoped she was working when I needed something. I loved her laugh and recall how she would sit in her chair with one leg tucked under herself with a lanyard around her neck with all manner of stuff hanging from it. She was the best.

To a lovely friend!
The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.

They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.

Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain,
You'll always be within my heart
Until we meet again

U can only have 1 mother, patient kind and true. No other friend in the the world, will be the same to you. When other friends forsake u, to mother you will return, for all her loving kindness she asks nothing in return. As we look upon her piture, sweet memories we recall, of a face so full of sunshine and a smile for one and all. To dear mother up above, we miss you and give our love

There's magic in a Mother's touch,
And sunshine in her smile.
There's love in everything she does
To make our lives worthwhile.
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter is a source of joy,
Her words are warm and wise.
There is a kindness and compassion
To be found in her embrace,
And we see the light of heaven
Shining from a Mother's face.
