It does not seem that long ago, Doug. The years have flown by and it seems like we were sharing laughs just a few days ago. You are missed by all your friends and family but I am sure you can look down on all of us and see how fondly you are remembered. I asked you to save me a seat and I am hoping you did because we will be seeing each other in the near future. Love you my friend.

Doug was a joy and inspiration; I imagine most who were blessed to know him wished they could be his best friend and just hang out with him. I was a student in his EFC management classes some 15+ years ago--he impacted my career and life in amazing positive ways. He was a great teacher and mentor, as well as a good steward to all. He spoke highly and often of Karen, Renda, Robin, and Randy; it was obvious you all were the the light of his life. God bless and comfort you, and bestow upon you His tender mercies.

Doug was a light in our lives. He lives on in my heart, He was a real man, , a sweetheart to all. He made me a bunny for the Mardi Gras ball! He was very creative and a lot of fun! I won't say goodbye.

I haven't written anything here yet because I've been trying to find the words to say, and the truth is that there are no words to describe my feelings. Doug was a treasure in our family; someone who always made you feel better after spending time with him. I have so many memories of him, and they all include his wonderful hugs and humor. I'm so grateful that he was part of my life and will keep his memory in a special place in my heart. My deepest love to all of you, my Richardson family.

Doug, what can I say that hasn't been said. You had a good life and made a lot of friends who remember you fondly..but there is one thing only I can say..thanks for having raised a great son in Randy. My daughter obviously thought so because they fell in love and married. Randy is a great husband and a great father to my 2 youngest grandchildren, one of them being my ONLY granddaughter..THANK YOU for instilling the ideals and high standards in him..I remember the last time we broke bread and shared a cold one..July4th at the horse races in Grand Prairie..we will meet again..save me a seat.

Doug always left a room brighter than he found it. The last time that we were with Doug and Karen at a Krewe meeting, he kept the table laughing and smiling the entire evening. Doug has blessed so many lives with his wit and sweet spirit and we are proud to be numbered among that blessed group. Rest in peace, Doug, and may angels guide you to your rest. Sid and Linda Walton

I did not know Doug, but his son, Randy, is a testament to what a wonderful person Doug had to be. His children are quite a legacy. I am so sorry that you lost your Dad, Randy and family, and I am thinking of you all.

Prague

December 23, 2014

This picture was taken in Prague. One of his 4 trips to Europe with my family.  It was a great trip with wonderful food and cheap beer!
One thing about my Dad is he was always a giver and never expected anything in return.  On this trip it was all about the experience.  Taking morning walks with my Mom in the snow and making sure he always had his camera so he could document our experience.  I am thankful my family and I got to travel with him a little in his last years to see the beauty this world has to offer.
Dad, I know you are proud of me but more importantly I am proud to be your son. There is no better mentor and life coach I could have asked for.  I will continue to make you proud and work on raising my son and daughter to honor your legacy. I know you will still be joining us on our travels and I will make sure I document them for you to view in heaven.
I love and miss you so much Dad!!

Lost in New York

December 18, 2014

Doug, Karen and I took a trip to New York to meet Randy at a work conference. This picture was taken on St. Patrick's Day. Karen and Randy had gone back to the hotel, but Doug and I were not ready to go home for the night. We ended up at a bar called O'Malley's, where we made lots of friends. We had such a great time wandering around (because we were lost) and just talking as we enjoyed a drink (or two or three.) Somehow we found our way back to the hotel. Needless to say, Karen and Randy were a little less than happy to see us. But we were prepared and came bearing gifts! We brought them t-shirts from the bar we ended up at! There have been so many great times with Doug, but this memory has always been such a sweet one to me! I love you so much Doug!!
