All about Doc Rock

January 15, 2011

Palmer Joseph Restaneo B.S.Psych, PharmD, DMD.

Born the youngest child to Immigrant parents from Italy, and raised in a small coal mining community, Palmer did not follow the normal footsteps of children in that community of working in the coal mines. He attended Muse Elementary School and graduated from Cecil High School. Following his primary education, he attended Washington and Jefferson College, Duquesne University, and the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained his degrees in Pharmacy and Dentistry.
At an early age while in elementary school, Palmer displayed a talent in music where he began playing the clarinet. He progressed so rapidly, that while in elementary school, he was show cased at the high school level as a solo clarinetist playing the composition Flight of the Bumblbee. During his development in music, he was presented to the Forensic League of solo competitions where he won and achieved the level of superior as a grade in performance. By the end of his four years in high school, he was presented with opportunites of four scholarships in music to various universities, of which he declined totally.
With the urging of his mother, Palmer set out into the world of achieving a college education. This of course was not the typical progression of children growing up in small coal mining communities. Children generally followed their fathers into the mines, however his parents were about to not let that happen.
Palmer began attending Washington and Jefferson College, and from their transferred to Duquesne University where he obtained his bachelor's degree in phsychlogy. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh and recieved his degree in Pharmacy. While recieving his pharmacy degree, he also obtained and master's degree in psychology. With intermittent working as a Pharmacist, Palmer was accepted into the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. There is where he achieved his degree in Dentistry.
As a Pharmacist, he worked for the Thrift Drug Co. traveling around from store to store, state to state as a trouble shooter. Once he recieved his degree in Dentistry, he applied to medical school in Iowa, was accepted, but had to decline to stay home closer to his mother due to the illness of his father that took his life.
He then went into business as a dentist and successfully established a thriving business for thirty five years.
As a professional in both Pharmacy and Dentistry, Palmer served each of the societies with postions of president.
He was a pioneer in laser dentistry being one of only two hundred dentists in the United States doing laser dentistry in the early 1980's

Palmer's favorite hobby was horse racing and he owned several race horses over the years including the Champion Paris Spur, yearling from Barberry Spur and Paris Rain.

August 8, 1990, he married Christine Rosko and together they built a patient caring dental facility called The Smile Center. Dr. Palmer was known for his gentle touch and his conservative techniques and the patients knew they were getting the best treatment possible.

Palmer possessed a natural talent and love for music, and, having been a young music prodigy, he encouraged the same for his daughters, Jewel and Blaire. He lived vicariously through their entertainment careers, from the Broadway stage, to television, and film.  In 2007 The Restaneo's did a television show pilot for the Disney Channel with Producer Richard Schneider called "Our Crazy Life" which was the very first animated reality show.  The show was about Dr. Palmer's daughters, Jewel & Blaire their crazy not so normal family including their wild funny dad.   Palmer had been presently involved with their pop music band, “Pixikill” .     http://www.pixikill.com    www.pixikill.com
