BIRTH AND EARLY CHILDHOOD

Duabo was born on 7th March 1969 in Port Harcourt to Chief Ngozi & Mrs Albertine Theophilus of Nembe, Bayelsa State. He was the third child and also the first son of Chief Ngozi Theophilus. As a young child, he was a source of great pride and joy to his parents and siblings. He was truly an awesome brother, a friend, a mentor and very protective especially of his younger siblings. He had a solid foundation which helped him grow into a respectful young man with strong family and personal values.

EDUCATION

Duabo started his formal education at Sea Bird Nursery School in 1972 and progressed to Township Primary School Port-Harcourt. As a student, he was hardworking and purposeful and earned his First School Leaving Certificate in 1982. Later that year, he was admitted into Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borikiri, in Port-Harcourt. His leadership characteristics became very evident and he was made the Captain of the Monroe House dormitory. He was subsequently admitted to study Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor of Technology degree in 1996.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

After his National Youth Service he began his professional career in 1998 with the Bayelsa State Government as an Engineer in the Petroleum & Pollution ministry which was later incorporated into the Ministry of Environment. His primary duties aimed at protecting the environment from ecological degradation especially from the exploitation of petroleum resources. His job also included protecting the rights of the host communities with regards to petroleum exploitation activities.

He was promoted to the Assistant Chief Petro-Chemical Engineer position and recently got a lateral move to the position of Assistant Chief Scientific Officer in November 2013. This was his last position.

 

Duabo was admitted into the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 2009 as a fully registered Chemical Engineer.

 

 

FAMILY LIFE

Duabo and Anita Dimabo nee Ugboma got married on 11th December 2010 in Port Harcourt. It was a very beautiful occasion and with great excitement, Duabo danced like he had never done before. The marriage is blessed with an adorable son, Doute Jayden Duabo-Theophilus.

 Duabo was a very loving and caring husband and father. His young and vibrant family was always full of joy and laughter. He had great satisfaction in the family he was building and was very devoted, protective, caring and loving.

Overall, Duabo had a loving relationship with family and friends. He was the architect of a lot of memorable moments in the family.

CHRISTIAN LIFE

He was raised in an Anglican home and he worshipped with his parents at the St. Cyprian's Anglican Church, Hospital road, Port-Harcourt. Duabo also worshipped in other churches over the years and in 2008, he became a member of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) Kaduna Street branch where he served in the Protocol Unit.

 

THE PERSON BEHIND NAME

Duabo meant different things to different people and he lived a fulfilling life. To his immediate family, he was the pillar; to his extended family he was that dependable wise voice and to his friends he was a source of inspiration. The following words have been used by different people to describe Duabo; Loving, listener, soft-spoken, bridge-builder, big heart, role model, cheerful.

Duabo has left behind very fond memories with us all. His amazing deep rich laughter would fill any room and flow unto others around him. He had such a unique personality that cannot be replaced and we will forever cherish those fond memories while relying on God’s strength to cope with such a big loss.
