Edward H. D. Brooks, Jr. 69, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his home in Slidell, Louisiana. He was born on December 26, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward  and Irene (Samuels) Brooks

Ed grew up in  Chicago, Illinois. He attended CVS High School in Chicago. After high school he enlisted in the US Marine Corp where he served his country during the Vietnam War.

Ed was a welder by trade for over 20 years and retired in 1992.

As well as fishing, hunting, watching football, telling tall tales and spending time with his family, Ed loved his dogs, Kaizer and Shasha von Brooks.

Ed gave his life to Christ in 2010 and attended the New Life Church in Nashville, TN.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Irene; and his brother John  (Yolanda) Thompson.

Ed is survived by his spouse Carla Turner of Chicago, Illinois; his son Edward (Tammy) Brooks of Albuquerque, NM; his daughter Stacey Brooks of Clarksville, TN; his daughter Adrienne (Darren) Martin of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren Quintita, Azaria, and Marius; his great-grandchildren Elexie and Aurora; his brothers Gregory (Cheryll) Brooks, Andre D. Dudley (Charlene) Brooks, Dwain Major (Donna) Brooks; his sister Debra Brooks and his loving nieces, nephews and friends, especially Margaret “Mel”, Marlene, Skipper, and his godsons Matt and Xavier.

Edward requested that his body be cremated and his ashes sprinkled over J. Percy Priest Lake where he fulfilled his life long dream of becoming a professional angler.

A memorial service will be held at Riverside Marina on the J. Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, TN, on May10, 2014.
