My brother “Ed”

March 25, 2020
(Ed's sister, Carol Sands, read the following remembrance at his funeral service.)

My brother “Ed”

As children we were the close-knit fun-seeking mischief makers, always looking for that special moment we could work our way out of the trouble we got ourselves into (which was almost daily). We used to ride our bikes down to Captain Starn’s pier and spent the day watching the fishing boats go out for the day of fishing, and we would still be there at the end of the day when the boats came back with their catch of the day.

We always looked after each other, no matter what situation we got ourselves into.

As the years went by, I married, had children of my own. You joined the Navy and were stationed out of Boston, Mass., on the Cruiser U.S.S. Boston for two years. And when you came home you stayed with my husband Howard and I and family. It was a pleasure to have you with us.

Then you met “Claire,” married and had children of your own. “Claire,” the love of your life, who has always been in life and death, and your two sons, Frankie and Eric. You are gone now, my brother. You are joined with your beloved “Claire,” who has always been your “heart.”

God did not want you to suffer anymore. He sent his angels to lift you up to your heavenly resting place.

In life you were a true friend, loving brother, and a wonderful husband and father to your two sons, Frankie and Eric. I saw goodbye for now, but you will always be in my “heart.” I will always treasure the memories of our childhood adventures.

You are at peace with the Lord, my “brother.”

Love your sister,
Carol
