Sgt. Edward Forrest Jr., 25, grew up in Fenton, Missouri, and was a 2003 graduate of Rockwood Summit High School. He joined the Army on January 21, 2004. He was deployed to Iraq from June 2004 to July 2005, and re-deployed there in September 2008, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson. While stationed at Fort Carson, he met and married Stephanie and they lived near Fort Carson. He was one of five soldiers killed in a suicide truck bombing in the northern Iraq city of Mosul. Eddie had re-enlisted last fall and was scheduled to be transfered to Fort Lewis, Washington later in 2009. He had no qualms about re-enlisting and continuing his service to his country, after all, the war was almost over. He completed his mission, just not the one his wife and family wanted. Edward was awarded the Army Commendation Medal-2 times; Army Achievement Medal-2 times; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon-2; Combat Infantryman's Badge, a Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie; his children, Bradan, 2 ½ years and Jameson,1 month; parents, Edward W. and Tina Forrest; sisters, Margie Gilliland and Melissa Pliner; brothers, Danny, Larry (Bethany) Davis, Ricky Hessler and Shaun Smith.
