My rock, my hero. Wouldn't be me without you and Bong and Pop and Ma and Pa. You were there for everyone and I appreciate it. You started being my angel as soon as Artie gave me the news. BY the time I finished calling everyone, it was dark and I couldn't finish digging sandspurs. You are always there to deflect the bad stuff. Hug Bong and Pop, Ma and Pa, and Uncle Ray for me.

I remember when I was in 9th grade. We had just moved up to New Carlisle and I was babysitting while Dad and Mom went to the bowling alley in New Carlisle. My sister was swinging on the swing set and fell off. The swing  seat came back and gashed her head. I tried calling the bowling alley but Mom and Dad weren't there yet. I called Aunt Annie and she drove up from Dayton and helped me take care of my sister until we could get hold of Mom and Dad.

Also, whenever I came up from Florida, I always stayed at Aunt Annie's except once when Bong and Pop were older and she didn't think having my very young kids there would be easy for them. She always had room---if the beds were full, we threw a blanket on the floor and slept there-like we did when we were little at Bong's. That way you could watch TV and fall asleep and not have to worry about someone waking you up to go to bed.
When we came up for the Wallace reunion, we were packed elbow to elbow sleeping on the floor like the pioneer days and my grandkids slept between me and my daughter--the heritage was passed on!!! We allways had a blast. She always spoiled my kids and grandkids. She helped them eat their vegetables and other food behind my back so they could have their desserts.

She always had an ear to listen when I had a problem or needed to vent, and I could call her early or late and she always listened and empathized.
We always had a cookout over at Aunt Annie's while I was there so everyone could come over and sociallize. I got to see Becky and Maria, Artie and his crew, Rick J usually showed up, Ginny (Monnin)Henderson. Everybody pitched in with covered dishes and cleanup. Almost a mini-4th of July like we used to have at Triangle Park.

One thing I will never forget and she probably could have killed me for--Everybody knows that I love the critters. When I was in 9th grade, I dissected, skinned, and cured a 4 ft blacksnake. I was extremely proud of myself and had stuffed the inside with some rags, while it has drying out. We went to Bong's on Vermont that day and Aunt Annie was sitting in Pop's chair. As I  walked in the door from the porch, I said to her "I dissected a snake, I want to show you," as I tossed it into her lap, not thinking. She almost did a backward somersault in that chair. After I moved down here she told me that I could visit as long as the critters stayed home. After I moved to Florida, we went hunting and killed a large rattlesnake. Called Pop and Uncle Ray to find out how to cook it. Their remark was to throw it out. So when she came here a few times, she always double checked what I took out of the freezer for supper.

When her and Bong and Pop came down for my wedding, we had the reception at Philippe Park so the kids could run around and everybody (especially me) could get dressed comfortably afterwards. There was a large discussion about a borrowed turkey roaster not being used to cook baked beans in and she took me out and bought me a new porcelain roaster so that I could cook anything I wanted in a stupid pan. And I am still using the dishes her and Bong and Pop got me for my wedding--think of all of them every day.

I will always remember the night my Dad<Art Wallace> passed away. Aunt Annie was the first one to come to our house to be with us kids, as Mom rode in the ambulance to take my dad to the hospital. What would we have done without her!  She gathered us each around her and held us oh so tight waiting to hear from Mom that Dad was going to be ok. Kneeling with us on the living room floor, she said"we needed to pray"  and in that moment we started to pray the rosary with her. I can't even imagine what Auntie was going through as she hovered over all nine of us like a mom with her chicks protecting us from all harm. I will aways be so grateful for her being there for us kids.that night and always a part of our lives.< I love you Annie, You will beorever in my heart.
