Eleanor Murray Fowler, 76, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her home.
A native of Granville County, the widow of Carlton Bryant Fowler and the daughter of the late Milton Lee Murray. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor and retired as a finance director for the City of Creedmoor.She was active in the First Baptist Church Food Ministry, Creedmoor’s music festival, parades, Fourth of July festival, South Granville Athletic Association, Lion’s Club in Creedmoor and was a Facilitator for Leadership Granville. She was on the board of the Granville County Historical Society and the Granville County Library system, Secretary and Treasurer of the Granville County Chamber of Commerce, and involved with the Granville County Tourism Development Authority and Recreation Advisory Committee.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July26, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor by Rev. Jim Shelley, Jr. and Rev. David Richardson. Burial will be in Bullock Cemetery in Stem.
Surviving are her mother, Lillian Tillotson Smith of Creedmoor, two sons; David N. Fowler of Durham, Donald L. Fowler (Kara) of Durham, a brother, Robert F. Murray (Sherrill) of Creedmoor, five grandchildren; Kristen, Kelley, Kalyn, Carl and Sophie Fowler and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by three sons; William L. Fowler, Johnnie W. Fowler and Carlton L. Fowler.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 12:30 -2:00 P.M. prior to the service at First Baptist Church in Creedmoor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Creedmoor Food Ministry or to South Granville Athletic Association.
