Mrs. Elizabeth McCants of Valley, AL, expired Monday, Oct. 10 at Lanier Health Services. The family may be contacted @ Mr. Franklin McCants, 349 Summerhill Road, Valley, AL (334) 756-6540 and Ms. Faye Hill, 1118 Brown Circle, Valley, AL (334) 756-3960.

Mrs. Elizabeth Magby “Liz” McCants was born February 16, 1938 to the parentage of the late Charlie (Sr.) and Geneva Pate McCants in Randolph County, AL. On Monday, October 10, 2011, this loving and caring voice was silenced as she entered into eternal rest.

“Liz”, as she was known to many, accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Friendship Baptist Church, Valley, AL.


She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Linda Marshall Harris, a sister, Annie Dora Magby, her grandparents, Lee and Beulah Magby, a son-in-law Aubrey Hill, and a mother-in-law, Josie McCants.

Elizabeth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.


She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted husband, Franklin McCants, Valley, AL; four daughters, Brenda “Faye” Hill, Doretha “Van”Roberts, Ann Glaze, Valley, AL; Charlotte “ Shay” (Freddie) Trammel, Salem; five sons, Michael Eric Magby, Carl(Mary)Ashford, Valley, AL; Jeffery(Cassandra)Ashford, Jesup, GA ;Willie(Barbara)Ashford, Cleveland, OH; Merrell” Bo” Ashford, Nichols, GA; 31 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Ann Magby Hightower, Opelika, AL; Olivan(Robert)Madison, Pensacola, FL; three brothers, Charlie(Frances)Magby, Jr., William(Bernadine)Magby, Valley, AL; Roy(Delores) Magby, Bronx, NY; two aunts, Mary(Ocie)Appleby, Catherine Williams, Atlanta, GA; two uncles, Emory Magby, Atlanta, GA; O.C. Magby, Chattanooga, TN;a son-in-law, Benjamin Harris, West Point, GA; brothers-in-law, Larkin McCants, Sr. Valley, AL; George(Dorothy) McCants, Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
