His Life

Elmore Middleton was born on March 15, 1935 to the late Hattie and Luther Middleton Sr. Elmore was educated in the Kenansville Public School System. He became a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenansville at an early age. He worked for his Uncle James in the log wood business for several years until he decided to travel to New York City for better employment opportunities. Elmore met the lady of his dreams, Geraldine Cobbs and married her on January 25, 1958. Unto this union 4 boys were born. While living in New York Elmore began his career at Beekman East Corporation where he was employed for over 45 years until his retirement in 2002.

Moe, as he was affectionately called, loved his family. He took pleasure in making sure they had the things they needed and wanted. Elmore’s courageous attitude remained consistent throughout his many challenges in life.  We honor his life of unconditional unwavering love for family and friends. Elmore was a great husband , father and friend. He was the best brother you could ever share your love with. Moe was a Phenomenal Man. His favorite sayings were, “I Love You” and “Money is no object.”

 Elmore leaves to cherish his memories: his dedicated wife of 55 years, Geraldine Middleton of the home. Five devoted sons: William Thomas (Connie) Faison of Raleigh, NC, Michael (Florrie) Middleton of Augusta, GA, Donald (Renee) Middleton of Brooklyn, NY, Terrance (Cheryl) Middleton of New Rochelle, NY, and Stephen Middleton of Bronx, NY.  He also leaves to remember his loving memory, his brother, Melvin Middleton, Kenansville, N.C., two loving sisters: Elnorse (Robert) Doyle, Brooklyn, NY, Hattie (Ronnie) Smith, Philadelphia, PA. Elmore has 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews who loved him so much, especially Joseph Moore, Jr., who worked with Elmore for over 16 years.
