Eric Michael Fonder went to his heavenly home June 19, 2018.

Eric was born to Kim and Melissa Fonder in Creston, IA on June 5, 2001.He moved to Elko, NV with his parents and older sister Emily in 2005; and for the past thirteen years has been a shining light in that community. He was entering his senior year at Elko High School, where he played the saxophone in band and jazz band.He was also an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, member of the youth group, and taught VBS.

Eric loves Jesus, and the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) poured out of his life, especially love, joy, and kindness. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church and confirmed at First Presbyterian. He loved God’s Word, fellowshipping with his peers, and serving others.

Eric had a full life with many interests. He loved making people smile, often using puns and silly dances. He loved playing games, both table-top role-playing and video. He enjoyed riding his bike, nerf wars, playing the saxophone, martial arts, animals, and earned the Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts. He took his first flight with Civil Air Patrol this spring and began working as a handyman at First Presbyterian this summer. He was a loyal friend and beloved person.

Eric will be missed dearly, until we are all called to be with him and our Savior in our Heavenly home.

I have a dimple in the fender of my car...made by Eric when he was spinning a bed slat, talking to me, while helping with the church youth group to move “stuff” out of my basement flood area. It is a daily reminder of Eric, whom we all loved!❤️

I am truly sorry for the loss of Eric. This is scripture that the Lord gave me to share with you. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:17
Prayers to you all

We have known Eric since 2005 when both of our families moved to Elko. That sweet, loving boy has always put a smile on our faces and in our hearts. Sharing Thanksgiving and Christmas with this family was always a pleasure and a blessing. They became our family. We are honored to know Eric and all of the Fonder Family. Much love to you all--Dr. Steve and Dori

My condolences for your loss. Eric and I were in jazz band together and he was always very nice. He was a really good saxophone player. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

What an honor and privilege to have known Eric and to celebrate his life. I so enjoyed being a friend of Eric's and hearing him share his deep thoughts and ideas. He showed a maturity beyond his years. He had the character of Jesus in showing compassion and love to others. His heart was given to serving, often times behind the scenes, making the many selfless contributions that great lives are built upon. My memories and appreciation of Eric linger long past his time on earth. I thank God for his life and look forward to one day again, in heaven, being with Eric. You are missed and loved, sweet friend.

Time for the littles

June 25, 2018

As a mom I know teenagers don't always look forward to spending time with younger kids.  I know they can be demanding and annoying.  But Eric was an exceptional cousin.  Whether it was "breaking into" the park and then playing for a long time, entertaining them while we worked, or just playing with all the kids during Emily's grad party Eric had a smile and patient spirit.  He willingly played and shared.

We love you, Eric!

A special gift

I love that Eric wanted to give me one of his ninja toys.  When we were leaving he gave me a ninja sai and I still have it and use it to defeat the bad guys.  Eric was always ready to play and include me.

I love you, Eric!

My favorite memory with Eric was when I got to watch him play his video games.  He let me pretend play with him.  He had fun video games and he explained what he was doing.  I also loved going to the park with him.  He helped me climb the fence to get in.  I thought we were going to get in so much trouble but we had so much fun!

I love you, Eric!

Daniel
