Happy 44th birthday in heaven eric. Me and dante spent the afternoon together talking about you. It was nice. We both miss you SO much.

When eric was just 9 years old he wanted his own cabbage patch doll and was a big fan of Joyce DeWitt. At the time his family was living on base in oceanside CA and the way things worked he was the last to leave the house but instead of walking to the school bus stop he would sneak back home. Mom and dad were suspicious because they would come home for lunch and the TV would be on.
Well when the phone bill arrived it was over $300,00. The reason the bill was so high was he made numerous calls to 2 numbers, baby land general in GA (headquarters of the cabbage patch doll) and ABC television in Los Angeles CA. Mind you this 1983 and the Internet didn't exist yet and how he obtained those numbers remains a mystery. He said he kept calling ABC and wanted to speak to Joyce DeWitt and one day he claims he did. She asked how old I was and why I wasn't in school. She then asked for his address so she can send him something.
A few weeks later, a large envelope arrived in the mail addressedto eric and inside was an 8x10 photo that said "to eric best wishes, Joyce DeWitt " so I guess he really did speak to her.
He also finally got his cabbage patch doll.
