Eric's wish for Yinx

December 21, 2015

Yinx was the most important aspect in Eric's life. So much so that Eric made sure that if anything every happened to him I would be sure to care for Yinx. We never thought that we would ever need to do anything but just in case.

Having to manage Yinx's transport and life in the USA has been a blessing. With each step I have felt Eric;s approval that his wishes were being followed. With the help of Agnes and Marcel, Yinx made the journey to Virginia. He is now living happily in Leesburg Virginia.

I spend time everyday with Yinx. He has come to know me well and is always happy to see me especially when I come with a carrot or a big apple. We are learning to ride English Dressage together and enjoy the challenge.

Not a week goes by when I see or hear something and think "I have got to share that with Eric," then I remember. So now I share things with Yinx and I feel as if Eric, Yinx and I have a conversation together. I know that Eric is at peace knowing that his beloved horse is well cared for and very much loved.

We miss you and love you Eric. - Nancy and Yinx

Living In Switzerland

December 27, 2014

After graduation from College Eric decided to expand his world and moved to Switzerland.  He combined his expertise in computers and flying while working for the Swiss firm FAA Flugzeugwerke AG.

The next challenge that Eric undertook was working as a CAD System Manager for ABB & Alstom Power. Since 2003 Eric has been working at Swisslog AG, Buchs/Aarau Switzerland.

As a dual USA/Swiss citizen Eric enjoyed living and working in Switzerland. He traveled extensivly and shared his life with his horse, Yinx.

Yinx

Eric loved animals. For the past 15 years Eric has shared his life with a purebred Arabian Stallion named Yinx. Not content to just ride a horse well Eric undertook the Parelli method with Yinx. They both thrived together and enjoyed many times riding in the forest perfecting their skills. Eric and Yinx achieved the Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship level 3.

Yinx will be traveling to the United States to live in Virginia.

As was Eric's wish, Yinx has finally arrived in the USA. On Tuesday May 12, 2015 Yinx flew on KLM from Amsterdam to JFK New York. Yinx is being held in quarantine at a USDA Stable in Maryland from there he will then travel to his new home in Leesburg Virginia. We are thrilled to add Yinx and a very important part of Eric to our family.

How He Died

December 24, 2014

Eric was experiencing dizziness and was taken to the hospital in Baden by one of his friends.  Initially the doctors thought it was a stroke.  As the week progressed, it got more serious and he transferred to the neurology department at the Inselspital Bern where he was discovered to have a bacterial infection in his brain.  Ultimately, the sickenss was too strong and moved too fast for the doctors to gain control and Eric lost the battle to this sudden illness.  The doctors thought he may have been bitten by a parasite and possibly contracted a Lyme like disease.  We don't know how long he had the illness or where and how he contracted the disease.
