May you continue to rest in peace, Erika Louise. You are loved by so many. You are gone but never forgotten. <3
Take my hand and lead me now, until that time when we shall meet again, on that day where there is no sunset and no dawn. Amen. ~Author Unknown
I stopped to think about you today on the anniversary of your passing. I can't believe it's been three years. I think of you often but today was especially hard. Your nephew has gotten so big and had his baptism today. But you know that already. You were there w him. Lesley and Travis have also grown so much. But you know that too. Thank you for watching over them. I can tell that your grandmother also misses you bunches. Thank you for keeping her safe. Say hi to your grandfather for me. I miss him too. Rip our dear Erika. God has you in his arms and I will always have you in my heart.
Rest in peace.

Juarez
One time Erika, some black guy that used to be a friend of ours and I went to Juarez Mexico to go eat and Erika asked how do you say chicken in spanish because she was considering ordering chicken and the black guy that was with us said "Pollo." Then some older mexican man sitting nearby laughed because he thought it was funny that a black guy was teaching spanish to a mexican girl instead of the other way around. Our black friend started laughing when he noticed the mexican guy laughing. I chuckled a little bit and so did Erika. I miss the good old days of hanging out with Erika. Life is not the same without her.
Christmas
One cold night after we finished our christmas shopping, you asked me if we could go buy blankets for the needy, and hand out a blanket to every homeless person that we saw. At first I wasn't thrilled at the idea of driving around all over town hunting down homeless people, but how could I turn down such a sweet gesture. So, we went to the thrift store and you bought a stack of blankets at a good price, and then we drove around UTEP and downtown and you gave out a blanket to every homeless person sleeping on the cold pavement or bench.
You were always thinking of others. You were always so kind to everybody, even to the people that were mean to you.
