Erika McCurty was born on April 24, 1973, to Nancy Carson and Charles McCurty inBerkley,California.  She was a happy baby and slept all night the first night she came home from the Hospital. Her first home was in El Cerreto, but shortly after she was born,Nancymoved toAlbanyonJackson Street. Erika grew up in the Albany/Berkley/Oakland area where she met wonderful friends she was close to through out her life. Her mother and her traveled to visit family inNorthern   Californiawhere she learned to fish with her Great Uncle Les. They would go to Desert Hot Springs to visit her Great Grandmother Helen. Many summers were spent inOhiowith the McCurty family, Grandmother Gladys Belle McCurty, Cousin Dianne English, and many of Erika’s cousins. Nancy and Erika would spend Christmas with theCarson’s inAustinthenPhoenix. Erika loved to travel. She traveled toNew Yorkfor College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the NYU. This is where Erika began her Career in Purchasing. InNew York, she was met so many wonder people and was an assistant coach for Phonz’s baseball team. She was there during the 9/11 tragedy.

Erika moved back to the Bay area when her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she was a faithful caregiver to her mother during this difficult time and spent every effort to cure her mother. In 2009, Erika’s mother passed away with Erika by her side. Erika traveled visiting friends and family until she settled inReno,NV, and worked for Skagen Watch Company. She loved her job and the owners of Skagen. When Fossil bought out Skagen, Erika relocated toDallas,Texasto work for Fossil. Erika’s Aunt Sally, cousin Lisa and Lisa’s daughter Jasmine lived inDallasclose to where Erika moved. Sally and Erika were a great help to each other.

Erika kept in touch with her cousin William, and was the voice of reason. Erika would tell it like it was.

Erika passed away this year, in Dallas, September 24th, at the age of 42, from a heart attack. Her family and friends holding her hand as she passed.

Words can not describe the loss her family and friends feel in their hearts for this wonderful person passing so young. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in God’s loving hands.
