This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Ernestine Webb, 71, born on November 7, 1940 and passed away on May 2, 2012. We will remember her forever

Ernestine “Ernie” Johnson Webb departed this life, in a peaceful sleep on May 2, 2012 at 71 years of age.

Ernestine and Justine were born on November 7, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ernest and Evelyn Goodwin Johnson. As a child, Ernestine was confirmed in the Catholic Church. In 1984, she became a member of Ezekiel Baptist Church. She received her education in the catholic and public school systems. She worked in the hospitality industry, holding numerous job positions; including cashier, waitress and bartender at multiple establishments. Throughout her employment, Ernestine gained many lifelong friends.

Ernestine was known for her witty one-liners, “telling it like it is” and coming up with unique nicknames for others. She loved making friends and being the life of the party. She was a huge Eagles fan, she never missed a game and would often “coach” the team from home. She enjoyed spending time with family, doing word searches and reading the Daily News. She is remembered for her loving birthday calls to family members. Ernestine was passionate about higher education and supported family members during their educational endeavors.  Her greatest pride was owning a house that many of her family members have called home.

Prior to her passing, she was a frequent visitor of her twin Justine, who is currently hospitalized. She was deeply concerned about her sister and was glad to see that her condition was improving.

She is survived by her Daughters: Deborah Webb-Stokes and Letitia Webb; Son: Kevin; Grandchildren: Nycole, Chrystal, Christopher, Tamika, Kevin, Carl Michael and Sean; Twin Sister: Justine Jacobs; Brother: David Johnson; Sister: Dorothy Higginbotham; Son-in-laws: Carl M. Stokes Sr. and Kevin Tate; Sister-in-Law: Christine Johnson; Brother-in-Law: Quincey Jacobs; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are grateful for the rich and long life she enjoyed. Her spirit is in a better place, she is with the Lord.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your Mom from my brother Ivan.  I will never forget your Mother; I remember the many times I spent the night over your house as kids.  I always thought Ms. Ernestine was the Coolest MOM....  Trust me I know what you're feeling; because it will be almost 3 years since the passing my father.  The blessing is that we have such Fond Memories of our Parents and they will Truly Never, be Forgotten & remain in our  within Hearts Forever......

Respectfully,

Valerie Sample-Amster
