Eva Pozsonyi, 80, of Roselle Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in Morristown, NJ surrounded by her loving family on April 7, 2018.

Eva was born and raised in Hungary and left her native country in 1956 due to the outbreak of the revolution.  Upon traveling to the refugee camp in Rome, Italy, Eva met and fell in love with Karoly Pozsonyi in 1958. They immigrated to the United States and were married on October 19, 1959.  Karl and Eva settled in Roselle Park, New Jersey in 1968 where they raised their family and lived for the next 50 years.

Eva was a devoted wife of 56 years to her husband Karoly who predeceased her in May, 2015, a loving mother to her four children, Charles, Eva (Rich), Thomas (Tracy) and Victor (Lori), proud Grandmother to her five grandchildren, James Teller, Victor Pozsonyi Jr, Tori Pozsonyi, Anthony Pozsonyi and Jesse Teller, all of whom she cherished and enjoyed immensely.  Eva leaves behind her beloved sisters, Judith and Ilona, her brother Viktor, nephew Victor, niece Judi and extended family whom she loved dearly.

Eva was an exceptional cook and loved to prepare traditional Hungarian dishes to the delight of her family and all who visited.  She enjoyed annual vacations to Cape May, weekend visits to the Pocono Mountains in PA, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Eva shared a passion for classical music and Opera with her husband which they listened to often. For the first time after leaving Hungary 57 years earlier, Eva had the joyful opportunity to visit her native country again in 2013 to marvel at the old and new.  She would make the bittersweet trip with her family one more time in 2016 to fulfill the final wishes of her husband following his death in 2015.

The very best of Eva, her unconditional love and devotion to family, her family values and dedication, her nurturing gifts of love through food, her generosity, selflessness, loyalty, goodness, genuine caring and understanding were gifts she gave us and lessons she taught us.

Eva’s love will live on within her children and grandchildren, and we will always remember the values she instilled in us, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave us.  We will miss you, Mom, for the rest of our lives, and will remember and love you forever.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, NJ, (908) 245-1558.
