Evelyn Elizabeth Knust was born April 9, 1930 in Howells to Bernard and Katherine (Eusterbrook) Knust.  She attended Howells schools, graduating in 1947, then taught school for one year.  On February 9, 1948 Evelyn married Donald Peitzmeier at St. Peter and Paul in Howells.

The couple farmed near Dodge, moving to West Point in 1955 where she was a homemaker and worked for Dr. Erickson and the Ortmeier Hotel.  In early 2000 she moved to Norfolk and later relocated to Stanton. Evelyn was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Stanton and former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point.

Survivors include daughters Cynthia Hausmann of Norfolk, Cheryl (Gerald) Johnson of Lake Stevens, WA, Catherine (Al) Maisonet of Everett, WA, and Barbara (Dennis) Hedges of Westminster, CO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Viola (Joe) Kreikemeier of West Point and Lorraine Ortmeier of Dodge; and brother Bert (Christy) Knust of Houston, TX. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald on November 21, 1996; sons Donald, Jr. in 1971 and Russell in 1975; sisters LaRose Meister, Irene Prusa, and Alvina Kreikemeier; and brother Dennis Knust.
