Her Life

In Loving Memory

December 13, 2015

Lynn Howe, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on Sunday, December 6 at her residence in Longhorn Village surrounded by her loved ones.  She was 65.

Lynn was born in Washington D.C. on December 12, 1949 to the late Charles and Norma Sparks.  She grew up one of four children in Northern Virginia.  She attended Radford University, and later worked as an executive assistant for Texaco Corporation in D.C., often attending sessions in Congress as part of her responsibilities.  She continued working for Texaco until she became a dedicated homemaker, raising three children with her husband Dale.

Lynn loved spending time in her garden, supporting her family, and serving others in the community.  She was an avid reader, a good cook, and a skilled seamstress.  She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren who knew her as "Nana," and enjoyed time with friends as a member of book clubs, the local garden club, and as a thrift shop volunteer.  She often went above and beyond with her volunteer work assuming leadership roles.  She led many PTA fundraising efforts, served as a Girl Scout leader, managed the Little League snack bar for many years, and served as president of the garden club.   Lynn loved to plan a fun party, and always amazed us with her creativity and talents.

Lynn’s kindness and selflessness made her a special person to all who knew her.  She is survived by her loving children, Marcene Frances Murphy, Stephanie Lyn Rotellini and her husband, Tim, and Kyle Lawrence Howe, and her five grandchildren Tyler, Bryce, Haley, Liam, and Brendan all of Austin, TX, her older brother and his wife, Chuck and Linda Sparks, and her younger sister, Cindy Naugle and her family.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016.
