Everett J. Westerman, son of William and Marie (Fiedler) Westerman, was born March 19, 1930, at Yankton, South Dakota. Everett attended Marty Indian School in South Dakota. His family then moved to Norfolk, Nebraska and he attended Norfolk Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1948. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bishop on December 30, 1950. They were blessed with five children: Nancy, Sonny, Patrick, Michael, and Mark.

Everett entered the United States Army after his marriage on October 5, 1951. He was discharged from the service on September 16, 1953. Everett and Dorothy lived in Norfolk their whole married life. He worked in auto body repair and was employed at Westerman Auto Body, Heckman Top and Body, Langel Auto Sales, and Cornhusker Auto. Everett was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644. He was an avid racer at local area dirt tracks.

Everett is survived by his children, Nancy Rodekohr, Sonny (Patty) Westerman, Patrick Westerman, Michael Westerman, and Mark (Debbie) Westerman; five grandchildren, Zach, Abby, Devin, Darrin, and Andy; one great-grandchild, Ben; and two brothers, William "Bill" (Dixie) Westerman and Paul Westerman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and three sisters.
