"Fredrick Ewan Carruthers

Also dedicated to Fredrick Rodney Elliott Brown, Ewan’s full cousin

Please do not stand by grave and weep!  I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am now part of the rainbow, stars and moon and gentle warmth of the sun at noon.

I am part of the wind and the rain that waters the bracken growing on the crags and hills down to the plains.

I am now part of the wild flowers growing in the woods and part of the farm fields of grain that produces life’s food.

So now, pause a while and reflect of the many happy times we shared before I left this earthly coil.  The comfort of music as it whistled through the air.

Also the many friends for whom he fondly cared, not often did he this reveal.  I have a loving family, son and daughter, grandchildren now two.  The treasured memories in the USA with my much loved wife, Sue.  He would remember their doggie pals, Archie and Oliver all gone now in the sands of time.

So farewell Ewan, we all in turn will hopefully be united in the garden of peace, love and rest, till our rebirth for eternity in the loving paradise of rest!!

This is the eulogy to Ewan with love from Aunt Connie"

Candle lit by Ross Brown on 13th October 2010

"This was a thoughtful and gentle man with a remarkable gift for distilling powerful emotions from carefully chosen yet apparently simple pictures. He unerringly found intensity in the ordinary, and now those who loved him will feel the intensity, of both grief and love, that comes from his passing.

We were lucky to know him - and we are blessed to have his music as a memorial to a special man."

Candle lit by Susan Carruthers on 13th October 2010

"My dearest Ewen:

My heart is filled with sadness but I am honored to have shared part of life’s journey with you.

So many memories
So many stories to share
So many songs

I play your music – it feels like you are still here with your guitar sharing your newest composition – how special to have been your audience

When I visit the ocean here I will think of one of my favorite songs “Pacific” and this will bring me peace.

Fondest love  - until me meet again -  Sue"

Candle lit by Roger & Elaine Goode on 13th October 2010

"I had the pleasure of knowing Ewen as a friend, colleague and gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist for over 40 years and Elaine shared the pleasure of Ewen's friendship and music for more than 35 years. We are proud that Ewen was our friend!

Although we saw little of each other over the last 20 years, whenever we met the years rolled back, we picked up where we had left off, putting the world to rights, reminiscing about times past, often laughing until we cried!  We really enjoyed those times and are so sad that we can never repeat them.

Ewen's unexpected and untimely passing leaves us shocked but thankful that he was not left incapacitated and unable to write, sing and play his music.

It is tragic that the last chapter in Ewen's life was so short.  We know how proud he was of David and Sarah and their families and the joy of being a Grandad.  Our hearts go out to you for your tragic loss.

How fortunate we all are to have the wonderful legacy of Ewen's music to enjoy and to remember him by.

We shall miss you old boy!  You may be gone but you will be forever remembered with great affection.

Rest in peace

Roger and Elaine

You were always a dear friend and I was looking forward to seeing more of you on your return to England. What's that saying about "Weep not for whom the bell tolls"?
Well I weep for thee bonny lad.
