Biography for a Visionary Man

Felix Ebob Enoh was the last sibbling of seven children born to Mami Magdaline Asu and Pa Enohbessem Enoh (both preceded in death). He was born on December 28th, 1951, in Kembong, Manyu Division, South West, Cameroon.

Early Years:

Being the last sibbling of the family, Felix was very close to his beloved mother, Mami Magdaline Asu. She cared for him with everything she had, and as he grew older, he catered to her every need. In 1958, Pa ENOH Daniel Ozong-Ashu (Felix’s older cousin), took Felix into his home in Kumba, as one of his own and provided the needed support throughout his child and adulthood.

Educational Life:

Felix attended primary school in Government School, Kumba town where he attained his First School Leaving Certificate, notably the top in his class throughout.

His secondary education began at PSS Kumba (now PHS Kumba) in 1965 through 1970 where he was the Socials Prefect. Again, he excelled, wrote and passed 10 papers for his Ordinary Level Certificate (GCE O Level). He proceeded on to CCAST Bambili from 1970 to 1972 where he took and passed 4 papers for the Advanced Level Exams (GCE A Levels). It was already evident at this point that Felix was specially gifted as a genius of sorts. The words that came out of everyone’s mouth concerning him was “He get too much sense for head”.

Adulthood and Career Life:

Felix proceeded to the University of Yaounde in the Faculty of Sciences from 1972-1973 where he obtained CB1/BG1.

Later in 1973, Felix was the only recipient of ASPAU Scholarship to the University of Lagos (from 1973-1976) where he obtained his B.Sc. degree (Honors) in Chemical Engineering (+ petroleum option). He went on to obtain a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering (Heterocatalysis) at the same University between 1976-1978. He enrolled in a PHD program at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal Canada, in 1978 which was later interrupted by job offers with the newly established Cameroon National Oil Refinery (SONARA).

In 1979, Felix met the love of his life, Madgalene Enaw Ayuk. They married in an intimate ceremony on February 8th 1980. Immediately they moved to Paris, France where their lives began. He began working on his post-graduate certificate at the Ecole Nationale Superieuse des Petroles et Moteurs (ENSPM), in Paris. Felix’s life will change forever with the birth of his daughter, Daisy Enoh. He was in love. He doted on this precious princess of his. Fourteen months later, his “chop chair” Terence Enoh was born. He resided in various cities in France till he moved back to Cameroon to work in SONARA as the Director of Safety and Human Resources. During this time, his home was filled with joy and laughter as he watched his children grow and his career exceled. Felix also took on the monumental task of housing numerous members of family on both sides and bringing them up. His biggest dream was to build a dynasty made up of relatives’ exceling in every aspect of life. This was no easy undertaking, nevertheless he did.

In 1994, Felix Enoh Ebob was appointed as the Assistant General Manager of Elf Serepca, (later Total E&P, and then PRENCO). He worked diligently till his honorable retirement on December 28th 2012 on his 63rd birthday. During his entire professional career, Felix was awarded three Honorary Medals by the National Order as Knight and officer of the Nation.

He surrounded himself with the love of God. He kept a circle of loyal and intimate friends. He was a patient and supportive teacher with a passion for literacy and intellectual enhancement. His intellectual abilities spanned at a faster pace, achieving and experiencing with a blinding vigor. An encyclopedia in every aspect of life, he was incredibly compassionate, yet had a fierce sense of independence and self-sufficiency that sometimes prevented him from "stooping low" in the traditional sense.

During his retirement, he continued to do what he loved most, managing his estates, traveling the world, planting flowers, rescuing puppies, visiting orphans and widows and toiling his farm. He enjoyed the simplicity of nature. After an unexpectedly brief illness, Felix passed away peacefully in the loving arm's of his daughter on Tuesday, February 23rd 2016 at 22:15.

His rich legacy was inspirational, creative with a great sense of humor.
