Mrs. Henderson was born Sunday, October 3, 1920, the daughter of the late John Hollis Allen and Florine Stanley Allen. She attended the University of Georgia and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University. She was a kindergarten teacher and had a positive influence on many generations of children. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the West Point Presbyterian Church, but attended the First Baptist Church of West Point where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Horsley Henderson her son Allen Long Henderson, her sister Josephine Allen Winston, and her brother John Hollis Allen, Jr. She is survived by her son James Kennon Henderson and his wife Carol Smith Henderson, her daughter Ann Henderson Butler, her daughter-in-law Mary Gambill Henderson, her grandchildren Virginia Allen Henderson, James Kennon Henderson, Jr., Andrew Joseph Butler and her great granddaughter Emaline Kennon Swenson.
