Memorable Times in Movies:
Horror Movie: October 9, 1971...It is past 11:00 p.m. and my sister Esther and I are getting prepared for the midnight horror movie to begin. Both of us are very pregnant and due this month. We just finished setting up the living room table with all our junk food and soda pop just getting ready to sit down when suddenly I felt I was getting wet as if though I had just peed myself and couldn't control it. I ran to the bathroom to sit on the toilet of course and my sister followed me in. She yelled "Don't sit on the toilet...we have to get you to the hospital." I told her she was nuts as I didn't even have pain and with my first born this never happened to me. Besides, I reminded her we had a movie to watch. Instead I jumped in the shower and my sister kept on yelling at me. I gave in and put on some dry clothes and off we went. We were at the hospital just before midnight and Frankie arrived at 12:50 a.m. This was a very easy delivery and an unforgettable evening. The following Friday night my sister and I once again prepared to watch our midnight horror movie.
Jaws 1975: Javier, Sandy, Frankie and myself went to the movie theatre to watch Jaws. We were sitting at the very top row with Frankie sitting right next to me. The movie started and it seemed like we were at the edge of our seats just waiting for jaws (the shark) to come out. The music started...you know the music that comes out right before jaws eats someone. The music gets louder and stronger and out of nowhere just so suddenly jaws pops out and we hear a loud scream come from Frankie. I looked to his side and he was standing on top of the seat as he had just had the scare of his life. Practically everyone in the theatre was looking at him and it just became so funny with Frankie laughing also. This was an unforgettable moment.
King Kong 1976: My mom and dad invited us to the Plaza Theatre to go see King Kong. My father was a movie fanatic and he had seen King Kong with Faye Wray and was looking forward to this new version. We arrived at the theatre and took our seats. As the movies goes on and it comes to the part where King Kong is captured and he falls into the hole that had been dug for him. Suddenly we see this big black hairy thing that starts slowly popping up and a young child yells out in Spanish "Que Es Eso" (what is that) and of course to our dismay, Frankie yells out in Spanish also "Es La Mano del Diablo" (It is the devil's hand). I remember everyone in the theatre was in laughter. Another unforgettable moment.
Saturday Night Fever 1977: We all went to the movie theatre to see this movie. We all really enjoyed it especially my daughter Sandy falling in love with John Travolta and Frankie falling love with John's dancing. From then on he thought he was John Travolta. Always dancing to his moves and even walking like John did in the movie. Another unforgettable movie with so many memories of Frank.
Grease 1978: Again we all went to see this movie and of course Sandy fell more in love with John Travolta, especially when he sang the song Sandy and Frankie of course just loved it as he thought he was John Travolta.Another unforgettable movie.
Scarface 1983: All I can say about this movie is that it was Frankie's favorite from the moment it came out. Suddenly he was no longer John Travolta, he was now Al Pacino doing his Scarface version. Another unforgettable movie.
There were many more, but these are the most memorable.
All these movies I could watch over and over again and think of Frankie every minute while watching them. I MISS HIM SO VERY MUCH!!
