Franklin D. Autry, Sr. (Dee) 79, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.

A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late George Tanner Autry and Nellie Smith Autry. Dee was of the Baptist Faith and owner of Autry Logging since 1968. He also was in partnership with A&P Timber.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Johnny Holmes. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Evelyn Shaw Autry of the home; two sons, Franklin D. Autry, Jr. (Lisa Bailey), Michael Glenn Autry, (Lisa Autry); four grandchildren, Matthew S. Autry, Jenna Autry Foster (Ricky Foster), Tanner Link Autry, Joann Michelle Autry; one great-grandchild, Miley Brooke Foster; a brother, Paul Autry and sister, Kate Norwood; many nieces and nephews and a foster daughter, Vickie Williams and family. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Albert Autrey, Kelsey Autrey, Brown Autrey and Lillian Franklin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.

Dee was a sweet man who in many different ways touched a lot of people’s hearts and lives. He never met a stranger and could always make you laugh. He worked hard and provided a wonderful life for his family. Go Rest High On That Mountain Dee in God’s loving arms! ❤️
