Fred's Obituary

June 7, 2015

Fred Butler Higbie died at 93 on June 5, 2015 of natural causes.  Freddie, as some liked to refer to him, was born on December 28, 1921 in Grosse Pointe Michigan.

He attended Andover,Westminster, the University of Virginia and Michigan.  During his college years, Fred flew for the US Navy and continued to fly throughout his life.  In fact, he flew his plane to extraordinary places such as under the Golden Gate bridge and on the 18th fairway of the of the Country Club of Detroit.

Fred was partner at White Weld, which was acquired Merrill Lynch. He was on of the top 75 salesmen in the US and part of the “The Merrill Circle”. He was a born salesman and still consulted at 93.

Fred was a technologist. He always travelled with  an iphone, ipad, mini ipad, splicers, chargers, batteries --- we joked that traveling with Fred was like traveling with a mini RadioShack.  Fred was a golfer and a yachtsman, and a talented pianist. He played by ear and would entertain everyone after a dinner party.  “Fred was a Renaissance man:  a person with many talents and areas of knowledge.”

Fred was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend. She is survived by his wife, Carol Higbie, daughters Sandra Higbie, Tara Verner and his three grandchildren, Madison, Alexis and Sophie Verner.

Services will be held at St Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Palm Desert. In lieu of flowers, please write a story here: http://bit.ly/1Iky3bD.
