Her Life

My Sister

August 22, 2016

Gail was the quiet one.  She would shy away from confrontation, and would hope that you would, too.  When I was little, and both of my parents worked, Gail would take care of me.  She treated me like I was HER little girl!  Sometimes, we would walk up to the drug store, or the grocery store, and I would call her, "Mommy".  We used to have so much fun together!  In winter, she would take me to the Downtown Milwaukee's Christmas Parade.  Almost every year, we would either have breakfast or lunch, at Woolworth's, along with a nice cup of hot chocolate.  She and my brother-in-law, John, took me to my very first concert, and saw the group Heart perform.  OMG!  WHAT A NIGHT!

There are so many memories that I have with Gail, I could keep on going forever! But, the last one, is that she loved my kids!  Brad, Josh, and Melaney, all had the opportunity to spend time with Gail, and sometimes, John, too.  Sometimes, she would babysit, or she would just ask to take them for a few hours, and she would take them out for lunch at Pizza Hut, McDonald's, or the bagel place that was right near her house.  You could always tell when they had spent time with Gail, as they would come home, and you could smell the perfume that she would always wear.  It would linger on their jackets, sometimes, especially when each of them were young, and she had been carrying them.  LOL!  I still recognize the scent, when I smell it on someone.  ☺
