The Galveston Connection

February 27, 2023
I was working at Galveston College teaching television production when I first met Kid. He and I hit off right away. Before all his albums he used to bring his guitar and play late at night in our Audio Studio. Kid was just a special guy and I considered him a good friend. Mostly we were able to make each other smile. He played the music and I played like a producer who knew something. To damn you to leave this world with a lot of people still out there to enjoy his music and his person.  RIP Brother.

A Day in the Sun

November 22, 2016

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was performing at an outdoor concert in California when Kid Sayre showed up with a whole enterouge around him. I got to talking to him during intermission, loaned him my guitar so he could step up and do a few songs. His songs blew me away. Afterwards, he gave me a sealed copy of his "Gale Force 2" LP, which I still have to this day. Sometime later I saw a review of one of his concerts in Surfer Magazine. I believe that concert might have been at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Ever since our meeting, I always remembered the Kid, so sad to see he passed at such a young age. When I met him he was so down to Earth, so accessible, a great moment. RIP my musical brother...........
