we had laugh after laugh when Tommy was here in Havasu....

He left the house.. one morning while everyone was sleeping so of course we had to send the troops out to find him...George even checked the wash (in case he fell)..about 3 hours later  we got a phone call that he was in KMart !!!! 3 miles away from our house........We took a ride to Laughlin and the casino was having a drawing ..for St Patricks Day ...we all filled ot the paper work and waited around for the drawing....( you had to be there ) about 17 names were called and finally  George Quinn won $100.00 ..Tommy was a little perturbed he said he was more Irish cause his name was Thomas George Patrick Quinn....just kidding..

lots & lots of laughs

It  was unbelievable how two people could have the same likes and dislikes...George and I both liked music..he Frank Sinatra.... me country...can't believe how much I care for Frank Sinatra now...We both liked baseball starting off with the New York Mets..We went to many games at Shea Staduim...they continued to be our favorite until the Arizona Diamondbacks became our  #1 team...We went to a few games at Bank One Ballpark but with the 4 hour drive down and back it became too much of a hassle...besides it was more comfortable in our own family room...the atmosphere at the ballpark was great so we did enjoy ourselves.

We both enjoyed going to Laughlin not only to gamble but also to see the shows..We went so many times to the casinos that after awhile we were burnt out and stayed away...Our latest venture was going across the lake to the California side & their casino..The best times going to Laughlin was when we went with my brother in law Tommy.....Laugh after laugh just silly things that  make you laugh..Now Tommy ..Grace ..Marie...Dot...& Billy and George are all up in heaven together so I can imagine the goings on now...

Grace  left behind 8 grown children and their families...Dot and Dutch left behind 2 adult children and their families..Marie & Bill also left 2 adult children and famlies...Bill was single...Tommy left behind 4 adult children and their families..George left ginny & 7 adult children & lots of grandkids and great grand kids...Bob is the only one left with lots and lots of memories!

We had our own little apartment but just before Frank was born we moved to a bigger place...Frank arrived in November of '57 followed by Tommy in '59 and Danny in '60....One thing I can remember to this day was when JFK was running for President and was having a motorcade right behind my apartment..I took all three kids down with me in the pouring rain when a man came thru and said the motorcade is running late and wouldn't be there for another hour...so up the three flights of stairs with the three little ones (Danny was only 4 months old) Of course he fell asleep so I decided to go with just Frank & Tommy..We went down just as the cars were coming..We were on a median and as JFK 's limo passed he opened the window and acknowleged us standing there..I had a handful of confetti that I couldn't even throw. It was very exciting to see him so close....

As the family grew we went house hunting and moved out on the island to a very cute 3 bedroom house..Along came Carolyn followed by Elise in 1964...Yes you guessed the house was too small so we went searching for another .We found a deal we couldn't refuse..Thank you so much Uncle Harry!

So we moved to Lindenhurst until our move to Arizona..We had fun in Lindenhurst /Copiague  area ,,we went out on the boat almost every weekend...Our family grew to two more  George in 1968 and Joanne in 1972.. George sr was very active in Little League as a coach..We all enjoyed going down to Tanner Park to watch the kids play..

I know I'm skipping forward but  in 1975 George had his first heart attack and I was sure the talk about Arizona would stop....NOT! while in the hospital he called up one night and asked me to bring ALL the papers about Lake Havasu City Az... Two years later we were on our way to Az... things didn't work out as we wanted  so we made a trip back to L.I...Thank God he left on good terms with his former boss cause Harold Osias  from Automotive Discount Center welcomed him back with open arms...We stayed in Selden for a while and then moved to Coram NY..After 2 years in Coram we made the decision to go back HOME to AZ...That was in 1987..and we are still here minus the most important part of the family...Husband...Dad...Grampy...Paca & papa

starting life with GMQ

Looking back to 1955 when I first met George and 2 of his friends ,while they were home on leave from basic training ..a friend & myself were at a local diner when the 3 came in....IN UNIFORM..I always heard you fall for a guy in uniform...we all sat down to have a soda and  hours later it was time to go home..Maureen went with the other two Ray & George von Roder...I went with George and gave him the wrong address to my house..I told him I lived 2 blocks from where I really did..Just in case I would never see him again..The phone rang the next night and yes it was George and I had to tell him my real address..He came by and we went out and its been a whirl wind ever since..He was on leave and then left to go to Germany for 18 months...Letter after letter ...call after call...the romance blossomed..Somehow I found out he was coming home so I faked a sore throat and the nuns sent me home..My mother said if you have a sore throat  go to the doctors.....I had tonsilitis so bad I wound up in the hospital ..so much for time while on leave....George left to go to Fort Ord California for a few months and returned October 1955...We were married a year later which was kinda ironic because when I left the hospital I really didn't lose anything.I just started my own nursery ending up with 7 kids
